The Siaya County Governor Cornel Rasanga has become the first Governor to lose his seat after a Kisumu High Court on Friday 23rd August, 2013 nullified his election citing electoral malpractices.
During the ruling, Justice Aggrey Muchelule said that the election of Rasanga was fraudulent and ordered a new election.
The petition challenging Rasanga's election was filed by Mr. William Oduol who was also contesting the Siaya County Governorship.
In the petition, Oduol alleged that there were enormous ballot stuffing during the March 4th general election for the Siaya governorship contest.
