KNH calls for blood donors to save survivors of the tragic Kisii accident

Kenyatta National Hospital

The Kenyatta National Hospital has called on the public to donate blood to save the lives of students and teachers who survived the horrific Kisii accident which took place on Wednesday killing 15 people.

KNH made this appeal as it received 16 patients who were airlifted to Nairobi for specialized treatment.

Some of these survivors suffered broken limbs, spinal and head injuries.

Mr. Simon Ithai, KNH's corporate affairs and communication manager, said that the hospital uses more than 2000 pints of blood every single day and therefore they want more blood to complement what they have in the  blood bank.

The accident prompted president Kenyatta to call for full and strict implementation of the traffic rules.

Several leaders among them, deputy president William Ruto and cord leader Raila Odinga have since sent their condolences to the bereaved families.
