Shocking: Citizen Tv's Anne Mawathe allegedly fabricated the Dandora Rape Gangs story

Shocking Revelation: Citizen TV’s Journalist Allegedly Fabricated The Dandora Rape Gangs Story                Images of the 'Child Gangs of Dandora'

On Sunday, Citizen Television ran a documentary titled the 'Child Gangs of Dandora' done by their own, Anne Mawathe, but shocking revelations are emerging that that story was all but a total fabrication.

The story showed how young men in dandora, in organized gangs are terrorizing school-going girls. But it is now emerging that Anne Mawathe, the journalist behind the documentary actually 'coached' and paid the young men and girls who appeared in her story. it is alleged that she gave them a Kshs. 1000 each. It is also alleged that she told them what to say and, how to say it.

In a letter he has done to the Media Owners Association and copied to citizen Television, Pastor Joseph Khaniri who happens to be the spokesperson of he Dandora residence Association and also working with children's organizations in the area, confirmed that the characters who appeared in that story have been identified and confirmed that they were indeed paid 'to tell the story'.

Pastor Khaniri alleges that Citizen TV's crew, led by Anne Mawathe, went to Dandora and with the help of one Raphael Munjal, a youth from Dandora phase 3, looked for young girls who would later pose as rape victims in the supposedly 'child Gangs of Dandora'.

One of the boys who posed as a gang leader has been identified as Maphin Muchoki and his father Mr. Irungu, a former boxer is in shock. They live in Dandora phase 3.

Others who have been identified include a 17 years old Wanjiru who posed as Shiro in the story whose parents have termed the story as a 'disgrace'.

On the other hand, the young lady who posed as a rape victim and one who conceived out that rape has also been identified as Jemimah Waithera, wife to Njenga who is the father of her kid.

Citizen's move to choreograph that story is seen as a way of trying to catch up with the KTN's unmatched investigative journalists, Mohamed Ali and John Allan-Namu.

Despite all these allegations flying back and forth, Citizen Television has remained silent and it has not given any official statement over the issue.
