
Wangui Gitonga, a 23 years old linguistic student at the German School, scooped the Miss World Kenya 2013 title after a very stiff competition coupled with training which saw 10 contestants being shortlisted for the finals.
Miss Wangui Gitonga won herself Kshs 1 million and the coveted Miss World Kenya crown.
She takes over from the outgoing Miss World Kenya 2012, Shamim Nabil.
Wangui who broke into tears when she was announced the winner said she will use her new status to champion for the rights of young boys and girls who are facing sexual exploitation in the country.
On the other hand, she describes herself as humble and disciplined.
The 1st runners up position was taken by a 1st year Maseno University student Leah Tesfamariam who also took home Kshs 100,000 while Sophia Umwiza, a mass communication student at the Multimedia University settled for the 2nd runners up position also taking home Kshs 50,000.
