Former PM Raila Odinga with president Uhuru Kenyatta
In what many have termed as irresponsible journalism, Kameme FM, a radio associated with president Uhuru, today Friday 26th July, aired a frightening talk in which two popular journalist of the radio station is said to have incited the Kikuyu community against the Luos.
During the morning programme aired between 6am and 10am, the two journalist turned to be purveyors of hate speech playing exclusive politics and referred to former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga as shetani translated as devil. They also said he should be stopped at any cost.
According to the Kenyan Daily Post, at some point in the programme, the two journalists in question called on the members of the Kikuyu community to be 'ready' in case 'shetani' and 'his loyal supporters' causes an uprising.
Many people have seen this as a dangerous precedent being set and have called on the concerned authorities led by the Communication Commission of Kenya to move in with speed and stop this trend before the situation goes out of hand.
It should be remembered that in Rwanda, the radio and music industries played a central role in inciting and perpetrating the genocide which hit the country and left hundreds of thousands dead.
