The Wiper Democratic Movement has today, Friday 19 July, nominated Mutula Kilonzo Jnr to carry its flag in the upcoming Makueni by election.
Mr. Mutula Jnr has since accepted the nomination and said he is ready for the challenge in a press conference held at Serena Hotel in Nairobi to announce his candidature.
This follows the High Court's decision to uphold IEBC's ruling that blocked Mutula's sister, Kethi Kilonzo, from running in the by election on grounds that she is not a registered voter.
However, the court ruled that the Wiper party can still field another candidate in the race.
"The Wiper Party has a right to nominate another candidate to contest the senatorial elections in Makueni County," the three-judge bench ruled Friday.
Mr. Mutula Jnr has until tomorrow, Saturday 20th July, to present his nomination papers to the IEBC's Makueni County Returning Officer in Wote.
