Fireworks loom as parliament debates on the motion to divorce ICC

The national assembly is set for a political showdown on Thursday 5th September, 2013, afternoon, as members of parliament convene for a special sitting to discuss Kenya's possible pull out from the Rome statute and consequently from the International Criminal Court.

The motion which is fronted by the leader of majority in the National Assembly Adan Duale and backed by jubilee Members of parliament is bitterly opposed by MPs allied to the CORD coalition.

The two political coalitions are at this hour meeting separately to whip its members into a common position once the matter is presented on the floor of the house at 2.30 Thursday afternoon.
