The International Criminal Court at the Hague, was yesterday told that Raila Odinga enjoyed substantial support from the outlawed Mungiki sect in the run up to the 2007 general elections.

The court also heard that Raila Odinga, then a presidential candidate, gave Maina Njenga, a leader of the outlawed group, two fictional books on war when he visited him in prison before the 2007 elections.

While cross examining witness No326 Deputy President William Ruto's lead lawyer Karim Khan, informed the court that the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga gave Maine Njenga two books, The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene and The Art of War by Sun Tsu at Kamiti maximum prison.

Mr. Khan was seeking to convince the ICC court that if Mungiki took part in the 2007/08 Post Election Violence, then they had Maina and Raila's blessings to count on.

Meanwhile, the witness appeared calm, collected and responded to Khan's questions even as he tried to link ODM's Raila Odinga with Mungiki during the 2007 general election.
